Apple Activity In this activity we were saying that in pretend an apple was the earth and we started to cut the apple in to little and little pieces until we got to a little piece and that little piece was actually how much fresh water there was in the world!

“How the World Works” Reflection - Dana Point Ocean Institute
Please answer the following questions, reflecting on your experience today at the Ocean Institute, Dana Point.
What did you find interesting?
What I found interesting was that in the Ocean Institute They actually raise the jellyfish and take care of them. I also found out that turtles get confused with plastic bags and think they are jelly fish to eat but they are not they are plastic bags that they can choke on
What did you learn while on land at the Ocean Institute?
What i learned on land was that the aquarium water is clean for the fish and people because we tested the water and did stuff with the water and found out that the water is clean. What i also learned was that the type of fish we dissected had a air bag inside of it and we did not know that so that was interesting. Also we got to pop the airbag as air started coming out of it so that was also interesting to.
What did you learn while on the boat at the Ocean Institute?
What i learned while on the boat was that there are tiny, tiny, tiny little animals in the water that we could not see with our eyes. I also learned that in the mud there are little insects and animal creatures that live in the ocean. We found a baby sea star that at least as big as our fingernail and that was very cute and interesting.
4.How do people’s actions affect the marine (ocean) ecosystem? It affects the ecosystem because turtle think that plastic bags are jellyfish and they eat them and they can die from that so that is what affects the ecosystem . It also affects the sea animals because those trash can hurt them and probably even kill them because it can get stuck in their throat and get really badly hurt or also in their foot or in any body part that it goes on
5.How can you apply what you learned today to your life? Is there anything you can do to try and help our ocean, its ecosystem, and our Earth’s water supply? What I can do is rent a boat and bring bags with me and go out in the ocean and pick up all the trash that is just floating in the water because turtles can think that plastic bags are jellyfish and eat the bag and can probably choke on it and die from the plastic bag.

Safari Park Reflection
This is my reflection of when we went on a FIELD trip to the safari park.
Name: Jennifer Guzman #: 13 Date: 2/18/16 Safari Park Reflection
Please write a 2-3 paragraph Reflection about your experience at Safari Park.
What was your experience like, learning about how Safari Park recycles their water?
How does what you learned connect to our IB Unit of Study?
For each paragraph, be sure to include a topic sentence and supporting details.
Safari Park does a great job on recycling their water because in the restrooms there is a sign to how to flush the toilets . I likes that because they could know where our waste goes and they clean that water again and reuse it. I also like that they reuse their water that they use every time because they are trying to save water for the animals.
What we learned was how good or bad their water was and we tested it to see if it was good to drink there and that relates because at school we were testing out our schoolyard habitat water to see if it was clean and safe to drink for us and the animals in our habitat.
